 Cannabis and Mens Health

It’s no secret that cannabis is one of the most natural medication options out there for a lot of people struggling with chronic diseases and physical ailments. In addition, many people rely on cannabis as a way to deal with and manage their chronic pain conditions. However, as marijuana slowly becomes more legal throughout the United States, we are able to do better research and engage in more clinical studies that can help us discover more health benefits that cannabis can provide. So far, it seems that we are on the right track to making some serious breakthroughs when it comes to marijuana.

Right now, some of the main conditions that Americans treat with medical marijuana are forms of physical pain or severe cases of stress and anxiety disorders. However, what if we are able to discover some more benefits of marijuana in long-term use? That is exactly what some scientists are trying to do when it comes to cannabis research. Unfortunately, one of the many problems that men face in their lifetime is erectile dysfunction. This is something that no man wants to admit to their significant other in that intimate and romantic space; however, more people suffer with erectile dysfunction that what most people think, it’s just that no one wants to bring awareness to it. Part of this is because of the nasty and shameful stigma around this condition, which is honestly really sad. It is completely normal for men to experience this at some point in their life and we should be promoting more ways to work around and treat it instead of shaming people.

So what are some of the reasons that men can experience erectile dysfunction? As far as clinical causes go, one of the big ones is vascular disease. Interestingly, the University of Utah did a study that concluded almost 70% of coronary artery disease cases started with erectile dysfunction. This means that erectile dysfunction could be an early warning sign for developing that sort of disease. Scary stuff! In addition, endocrine disorders may be another cause of erectile dysfunction.

Endocrine disorders can look different depending on the type, but most people are familiar with diabetes, which is actually an endocrine disorder. This also makes sense when you look at the statistic that 50% of men who have diabetes also experience erectile dysfunction at some point in their life. This means that it could be one of the causes. In other ways, certain medications can be the cause for erectile dysfunction. Make sure you talk with your doctor or prescriber about all the side effects of a medication that you are taking, because it could very well have erectile dysfunction.

There are also various neurological problems that can contribute to men not being able to perform in the bedroom. Sometimes there is a reduction in one’s sex drive, or there are neurological barriers that are blocking performance. In any case, it is important to remember that it does not take away from any manliness and is something that should not be hidden from doctors or partners.
